We caught up with Nick so he could tell us a bit more about the Chaos Pairs CrossFit competition.
What do you like the most about Chaos Pairs coming up?
We’re super excited about it because it’s going to be a real inclusive day for the CrossFit community being and run by the CrossFit Community. CrossFit Rosebud is a great venue and a really good opportunity for you to experience some of the Mornington Peninsula and maybe you can spend a night or a weekend down here, also getting some good quality workouts in.
Obviously, the Mornington Peninsula is an awesome place. It sounds like you guys are going to have a classic CrossFit style comp that people will really enjoy.
That’s right. We’re not going to throw too many curve balls and any odd objects or odd equipment that you’re not used to. Being an intermediate comp, the athletes that will be participating love doing CrossFit. That’s why they’re going to do a CrossFit competition. We’ll be combining classic barbell workouts, with classic gymnastics movements and of course we know the athletes are going to bring the intensity with that.
Sounds like it going to be a fun weekend that people can enjoy but definitely be tested and it’s not a comp that is going to beat them into the ground.
We don’t want to destroy everyone. We want people to have fun, most of all. But we do want to put on a good test. I’m sure the workouts that we’ve put together will find the fittest athletes of the day without destroying people.
What type of athletes is suited to come down try out the Chaos Pairs?
Anyone who wants to give it a crack! Whether this might be the first competition they’re thinking about getting involved in or if it’s someone who’s doing local CrossFit competitions for the last few years. We’re not looking for any super advanced athletes that may have been to Regionals or competed at a really high level, but we do welcome any athlete who has the skills because they’ve been doing CrossFit for a while. Some of these workouts will still really test your abilities.
This is the inaugural year for the Chaos Pairs. What’s next for the following years coming up?
We’re hoping to get a really good response from the community this year. Obviously, we’re just holding it locally inside CrossFit Rosebud but we really want to push this Chaos Pairs and make it a real staple of the CrossFit season for intermediate athletes. Hopefully, next year, we’re looking to expand on what we will be able to achieve this year. We’ll be looking to find a venue. Partnering with Again Faster has been really awesome. Hopefully in years to come we’ll be able to have the mobile rig set up to have our intermediate athletes get to experience a more professional environment, something like the Regionals.
Spots are filling up fast so make sure to register for Chaos pairs here now:
